Sometimes writers will use the act of researching as an excuse to procrastinate the completion of actual work. This is not to say that research isn't part of working, but it can quickly devolve into a labyrinthian Googling and scrolling experience that distracts from the exact project that sparked the research in the first place. Not all writers do this, of course. I avoid generalizing groups of people (we've got too much of that going around these days, on all sides). But this writer does it and does it well.
