Today is the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. While not everyone celebrates for various reasons, I think the idea of thankfulness is a good one to bear in mind--preferably more than once a year, but at least we have an annual day set aside on the fourth Thursday in November.

Here's a quote about gratitude. I don't entirely agree with it, but it is food for thought:

"For gratitude not merely stands alone at the head of all the virtues, but is even mother of all the rest." ~Cicero (106–43 BCE), translated by N.H. Watts, 1923

As I was writing, thought of an essay I wrote last year about gratitude. Feel free to check it out if you feel up to it.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. I'm thankful for many things this year, including the fact that you are here reading this blog.
